Prompted to create an interactive album player, I dove deep into St Vincent's self titled album and explored how novel interactions could create a richer listening experience.

Understanding the Album
Although I had listened to St Vincent's album numerous times I found myself not really knowing what the album was about. I poured through the lyrics, interviews with Annie Clark, and reviews of the album to find inspiration and meaning.
Forming a Concept
Inspired by Annie Clark's appreciation of the Memphis Design movement and largely guided by her commentary surrounding the internet and identity, I developed three concepts.
The first concept explores the loss or manipulation of identity through literal interaction with the internet.
The second concept visually embraces the chaotic playfulness that St Vincent brings through her music. Content is hidden and would be found through curiosity over time.
The concept I moved forward with was largely inspired by the song Huey Newton and its portrayal of "falling down a late-night, vaguely depressive internet k-hole" (Rolling Stones). In this concept, the content revealed will not disappear, even as you navigate away, creating a dizzying layering effect.
